I've been collecting photos of our math classes lately! Here is a bunch of pictures showing our hard work in class!
We worked with fraction tiles to explore fractions before we compared them.
Then we separated our fraction cards into categories that we thought they would fit. We used categories such as "less than 1/2, equal to 1/2, more than 1/2, one whole." This helped us find similarities in fractions and also differences!

We then learned to compare our fractions with a "cross-multiplication" method. Students will remember -- COMPARE FROM BOTTOM TO TOP!!!! (If you are a parent saying what?!?! ask your child!! They will know!! )
After comparing all of our fraction cards, students then ordered them on our classroom made fraction line! We did a great job of finding equivalent fractions during this activity too!!
We have also been working on adding and subtracting fractions, converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions, and we will continue to learn new things with our fractions!!!
Remember: Study your multiplication and division facts and the fraction work will become easier!! :)
***Please: If you read this leave a comment!! It is always good to know that people are looking at what we are doing in class. If I see that there is a lot of interest in the blog, I will post more frequently!!***
